A Two Letter Word - Many Meanings

I thought about it and came up with...

Make up and make up XXX

From My InBox:

TALK ABOUT BIG LITTLE WORDS...THIS HAS TO BE THE BIGGEST

Think about it.
 UP

Read until the end.....you'll laugh....
This two-letter word in English has more meanings than any other two-letter
word, and that word is 'UP.'  It is listed in the dictionary as an [adv],
[prep], [adj], [n] or [v].

It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the

list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP?
At a meeting, why does a topic come UP?
Why do we speak UP, and why are the officers UP for election and

why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report?

We call UP our friends, brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver,
warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen.
We lock UP the house and fix UP the old car.
At other times this little word has real special meaning.
People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets,
work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses.
To be dressed is one thing but to be dressed UP is special.
And this UP is confusing:
A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP.
We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at
night. We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP !
To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP,
look UP the word UP in the dictionary.. In a desk-sized
dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4 of the page and can add UP
to about thirty definitions. If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways

UP is used. It will take UP a lot of your time, but if you don't give UP , you may
wind UP with a hundred or more.
When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP .
When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP.
When it rains, it soaks UP the earth.
When it does not rain for awhile, things dry UP.
One could go on & on, but I'll wrap it UP, for now  .......my time is UP !
Oh....one more thing:
What is the first thing you do in the morning & the last thing you do at night?
UP !
Did that one crack you UP?
Don't screw UP. Send this on to everyone you
look UP in your address book..or not...it's UP to you.
Now I'll shut UP

An Obituary

 From My InBox:

An Obituary
Printed in the London Times - Interesting and sadly rather true.

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn't always fair;
- and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).  His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.  It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;
I Know My Rights
I Want It Now
Someone Else Is To Blame
I'm A Victim

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.  If you still remember him, pass this on…If not, join the majority and do nothing.
