If your kids enjoy fixing electronics in the house, ifixit is where you would like them to go to before they renders the gadgets worthless.

And what else can they learn in the process?

I do walk the talk.

You can't say I am wasting my time on Pinterest.

I found an instruction on crafting a leather bracelet and managed to create one out of a punctured bicycle tube I found in my shop.

I did say that it could be an inspiring and motivating site to vist.

Help! I am stuck in Pinterest.

"P" for Pinterest. "P" for prison. Both are the same. Once you are in, it is so difficult to get out.

Pinterest is your picture dictionary.  A place where you can find ideas, inspirations, free tutorials and hopefully the motivation you need to start doing something that you have always wanted to do.

So, before you venture in to start pinning away, you have been warned!  You may have a hard time getting out even when the key to the door is in your hands.

Sharing your trade

I love it when tradesmen are willing to share techniques of their trade. If you can't copy and create the way they do, buy them. A great way to advertise, don't you think?

Here is Jill Turman teaching you how she create the curves to the grilles she made for her customer.

Discovered this on Slideshare thanks to Jim Hopkins.

It's easy to blog

Children in my neighbourhood are interested to learn how to blog and I did not get a chance to teach them during the school holiday. So, here is a step by step video instructions by Google posted on YouTube.

Good luck, Whitney and Megan with your blogs. If you are stuck and I am not around to guide you, you can check out the link to Blogger Help.

Happy blogging and remember to share your thoughts with me.

Adding stuff to your blog

See what I have discovered from Claudia at SlideShare today. A Yahoo group for Blogging For Beginners

I just became its member though I am not a beginner in blogging. I rather like the concept of 'learning with computers' and appreciate the useful links that are posted there.

Here is the kind of things you can pick up there.

When your dollar drops in value...

My friend emailed me some photos in his message, "WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH A US DOLLAR?". I did a check and discovered that they are likely photos extracted from Origami Resource Center.

Here is my take on "WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH A US DOLLAR?" after you know "WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH A US DOLLAR?".

============================================================================

When that $1 bill drops in value what can you do to retain if not double it?

Try selling it as a piece of art. Check out photos of dollar-bill origami models made by Stephen Weiss posted at Origami Resource Center.

Like it? Then check out link to its Free Origami Instructions to see if you can pick up some tricks. If you don't think anyone can likely make money with origami, then it is obvious that you have not read my article "Learn to fold for science and a living".

Got your attention finally?

Try googling "youtube origami US DOLLAR" and you will be able to find many free tutorials videos. Orikane shows you how to create a dog in this one.

Once you have created your own, try incorporating that into a birthday card for someone who loves dogs or is born in the year of a dog. That should save you some from buying a birthday card and you will get lots of hugs and kisses for that "Oh" range idea, don't you think so?

Are you brave enough to make one for your girlfriend as a birthday present? Send it with this note:

"May be dog reminds you of me".

And don't forget to include this quote by Josh Billings:

"A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself."

Now you get the idea. That should more than double that dollar folded.

Fairy Tales in Photography

Check out this photos by Gale Franey created with the help of Photoshop.

Fairy Tales
View SlideShare presentation or Upload your own. (tags: art fairy)

Gale Franey is not a photographer or graphic artist by profession. This is her hobby and she shares her tips and tricks on her website, The Graphic Groove. Her website is dedicated to her friend, Waldo from Saudi Arabia, the person who patiently taught her all she wanted to know about working with computer. Looking at her work, I am sure that Waldo must be very proud of her.

I would have missed this creativity if not for Helga who posted them on SlideShare. Thanks for sharing, Helga.

Death by PowerPoint

So, you managed to pick up the skills you need to create great images and photos. Now what are you going to do with all them other then posting them in your blog?

Learn again. This time from Presentation Consultant, Alexei Kapterev, to create your own chair tipping presentations.

Good photos? Create your own.

Remember the site I recommended where you can get free photos for your articles?

I noticed that the resolutions of some of the photos I chose were low and they do not look sharp when posted on my blogs. So, if you are the kind who prefer to create your own images but just need a little tweaking on your skills, I have discovered just the site to go to for free lessons.

Zach Holman has listed tens of thousands of tutorials for Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator and many other useful topics on Good-Tutorials.

I will have to find the time to learn something from this site. Till then, I have nothing to show off on this post of my doing.

Of FrontPage 2000 and Publisher

I have upgraded my computer recently to Windows XP Professional and have decided to upgrade my publishing software to "MS Publisher" thinking that it is an upgraded version of "FrontPage 2000".

It is not! As I did not save my "Front Page 2000" software, I am not able to edit the files I have already created using my new publishing software. As the programme is different, I have some learning to do before I can reload new files. Here are some free tutorial websites I have discovered:

Publisher 2003 Help and How-to

Microsoft Publisher 2000

So, am I upset over this? Not when it comes with these new discoveries!

1) That is how I started blogging.
2) Blogs read better when the articles are short with lots of pictures.
3) Will this work? Let's see when my blog is 90 days old.
4) When I need help with coding for my websites I can always go to SmartGirl for HTML Tutorial

Life's a swirl and my whirls are lucky twirls.
