Links to free images

If you or your children are looking for free images for their school project, you may want to check out this presentation I created for my course project with Coursera conducted by instructor David A. Owens of Vanderbilt University.

You can find a letter format that you can use requesting permission to use images that you found on the net. I have also included links to some free resources on the last page of the presentation which I shared on SlideShare.

Stand on your own (soyo) from Nancy Poh

On a personal note, I like it that I am able to include what I have shared on my GreenbeingNancy blog to complete my course project.  So, never let others tell you that what you are doing is not useful if you think it is meaningful.  You never know where the future will lead you to when you are willing to share what you know.

If you have a problem going through the presentation, following are sites you can go to for free images.  Be sure to read the terms and conditions before doing so:

http://www.clipartbest.com/
http://openclipart.org/
http://www.clker.com/

Even if these are free images, write a comment to thank the person who shared their work.  I think that doing so will motivate them to continue in their effort to create and you may even like their responses should you hear from them.

So, a big thank you to all who have allowed me to use your work in my project.

Free images from TinyPic

Just discovered TinyPic, a site where you can easily link or copy codes to post images and videos on your websites or blogs. Just click on its link to categories or do a search to find images you want.

It's free because the images are posted by those who are willing to share their work on the site. So, if you are good at taking photos, be proud to share them on this site. You may find them on one of my blogs.

Get free images whenever you can and reduce usage of batteries:)

Inspirations from tees

I promised to give you leads to free images and I have discovered them in T-shirts designs from Threadless.

To give you an example, check out how I used following t-shirt designs to teach my children not to fight but work as a team and...

Strength In Numbers - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

...advise them to work with people who share common interest.

Birds Of A Feather - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

To push this message across, here is an example of people who have succeeded with these points in mind.

If you are not able to find fame on your own as a dancer, what can you do? Do what the dancers at Pilobolus are doing. They formed a group and create their own unique style of dancing.

They are so good at it that they have appeared on many talk shows and even commercials.

So, seek birds of a feather and work as a team.

Digital medical images

Are you looking for gross and microscopic digital images of common and uncommon pathological conditions? Check the link to Digital Pathology posted on the website of Brown Medical School.

The images there are contributed by Jae Lim, M.D., Ph.D, Calvin E. Oyer, M.D. and numerous pathologists from Brown Medical School and/or the staff of Brown-affiliated hospitals in Rhode Island.

Permission is granted to reproduce these photos for teaching purposes provided the Brown logo is kept in place. Write to them if you would like to use them for publication.

You can also find medical images indexed by organ, normal/pathological conditions with diagnostic procedure on the website of the Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research. There are also links to free medical journals, medical schools, dictionaries, search engines, guidelines and free full text articles.

Save the environment! Get images free.

Check out the public domain images collected and posted on Karen's Whimsy. These are copyright free images as they were printed prior to 1923.

If not for Karen's efforts, images printed on old books, magazines and postcards would have decayed and be discarded over time. What a waste of creative efforts that would be.

What an angel Karen is.

You can find more of such links posted on Springfield Township High School Virtual Library.

My digital camera used up lots of batteries and these contain hazardous chemicals that can harm the environment if discarded indiscriminately. So, all the more reason for me to put down my camera when I need photos for my blogs.

Please read her Terms of Use for more information if you intend to use her images too.
