Easy Car Theft_Remote control

Please note that the information shared about a device that can remotely prevent you from locking your car is true. ========================================================= From My InBox: Hi It happens to me as well in Jaya Jusco IOI mall twice. I also thought my remote batt is flat. I went round n round my car trying to press remote, luckily after few minutes it locks. When i went 2nd time, i park same place, also cant lock..thn i change another parking place..remote seems ok again. You are right, i think someone has a device on remotes. The parking place is outside near Jusco entrance (nr secret recipe), next to ioi members parking. Please dont park there! Scary... > Hi, > > I think I almost became a victim of this last night. WARNING FROM POLICE

From My InBox:

WARNING FROM POLICE - not a joke

Reverse into public parking bays and drive straight out, it's safer.…

START TO GET INTO THE HABIT OF "REVERSE PARKING"
READ THIS MESSAGE AND UNDERSTAND WHY YOU MUST GET INTO THE HABIT OF REVERSE PARKING
Warning!!!!

Just last weekend on Friday night we parked in a public car park. As we drove away I noticed a sticker on the rear window of the car. When I took it off after I got home, it was a receipt for petrol. Luckily my friend told me not to stop as it could be someone waiting for me to get out of the car. Then we received this email yesterday.

WARNING FROM POLICE

THIS APPLIES TO BOTH WOMEN AND MEN

BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE - NEW WAY TO DO CARJACKINGS (NOT A JOKE)'

Heads up everyone! Please, keep this circulating.... You walk across the car park, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine and put it into reverse.

When you look into the rear view mirror to back out of your space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you put the handbrake on, leave the engine running and step out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view.

When you reach the back of your car, the carjackers appear out of nowhere, jump into the driving seat and take off, practically running you over as they speed away.

And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car. And now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your money, credit cards and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are now compromised!

BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.

If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, lock your doors and just drive away.
Remove the paper later. And be thankful that you read this e-mail. I hope you will forward this to friends and family, especially to women.

A purse contains all kinds of personal information and identification documents, and you certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong hands.

Please tell all your friends

Car Key your best Alarm System

From My InBox:

What to take to bed with you - not a joke .

Pretty neat idea. Never thought of it before.

Put your car keys beside your bed at night.

Tell your spouse, your children, your neighbours, your parents, your Dr's office, the check-out girl at the market, everyone you run across. Put your car keys beside your bed at night.

If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.

This tip came from a neighbourhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it.

It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain.

It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won't stick around.

After a few seconds all the neighbours will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that.

And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there. This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.

P.S.

I am sending this to everyone I know because I think it is fantastic.

Would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a phone.

My Mom has suggested to my Dad that he carry his car keys with him in case he falls outside and she doesn't hear him.. He can activate the car alarm and then she'll know there's a problem.

Please pass this on even IF you've read it before. It's a reminder.

Fight crime with...

Check out what you can capture if you have a video surveillance camera installed in your car.

That's the modus operandi of snatch thieves on motorbike.

Maybe it is a good idea for car manufacturers to consider installing one in all cars to help cut down crime.  Owners can post any crime scenes captured on public network like YouTube or on sites provided by the car manufacturers themselves.

Though you may not be able to identify the culprits from the video to have them convicted, at least you can learn how not to be the next target by not repeating the mistakes made by past victims.

Let's fight crime with in-car video survillance camera.

Car A/C (Air Conditioning) MUST READ!!!

If you read the article on this posted on Snopes, you will know from a study made in 2001 that the cause of toxic fumes has more to do with the fuel used than the internal components.

But then, there is no harm opening your doors and winding down your windows to freshen up your car before you start your day in it.

From My InBox:

This has been checked on Snopes.com and there is truth to the article below. Again it’s not saying NOT to use your air conditioner but that we should open our windows to let out the harmful fumes (Benzene) prior to turning on the AC.

No wonder more folks are dying from cancer than ever before. We wonder where this stuff comes from but here is an example that explains a lot of the cancer causing incidents. Hmmm. Many people are in their cars first thing in the morning and the last thing at night, 7 days a week. As I read this, it makes me feel guilty and ill. Please pass this on to as many people as possible. Guess its not too late to make some changes

Car A/C (Air Conditioning) MUST READ!!!
Please do NOT turn on A/C as soon as you enter the car.

Open the windows after you enter your car and turn ON the AC after a couple of minutes.

Here's why:

According to a research, the car dashboard, sofa, air freshener emit Benzene, a Cancer causing toxin
(carcinogen - take time to observe the smell of heated plastic in your car).

In addition to causing cancer, Benzene poisons your bones, causes anemia and reduces white blood cells.

Prolonged exposure will cause Leukemia, increasing the risk of cancer.

Can also cause miscarriage.

Acceptable Benzene level indoors is 50mg per sq.ft. A car parked indoors with windows closed will contain 400-800 mg of Benzene.

If parked outdoors under the sun at a temperature above 60 degrees F, the Benzene level goes up to 2000-4000 mg, 40 times the acceptable level.

People who get into the car, keeping windows closed will inevitably inhale, in quick succession, excessive amounts of the toxin.

Benzene is a toxin that affects your kidney and liver.. What's worse, it is extremely difficult for your body to expel this toxic stuff.

So friends, please open the windows and door of your car - give time for interior to air out -dispel the deadly stuff - before you enter.

Thought:

A robbery You cannot Expect - Something to Share

I did not verify if this story is true but the useful tips shared in this email should be taken seriously.

==================================================================
From My InBox:

Dear All

My wife was robbed Wed morning 06:50am 16th Sept 09 right outside my home. When she came out of my compound ( auto gate ), 4 men in police uniforms ( three with yellow vests with words POLIS on it arrived in a PROTON WIRA

One ' officer ' knock ' on the driver's window and ask for licence. Not suspecting anything, she opens the window.
Suddenly the officer grabs my wife's neck while another 'officer' grabs the car key. Another tries to open the back
passsenger door behind the driver but it was locked

Instinctively, my wife tries to open the door and get out...There was a struggle and my wife managed to get out of the car..

The officer who tries to open the back passenger door tries to grab my wife and push her into the Proton Wira. My wife put up a strong struggle and was punched When she fell, she was kicked (which we later found broke one of her ribs )

What happens above is not important - what is important I wish you all consider some safety steps to be taken

What is lost is replaceable BUT the TRAUMA is terrible....

Ladies please be alert and excercise more care For men please tell your wife / girlfriends / mums etc
- Not all uniformed police are police
- most newer cars have auto buttons ( for driver and front passenger windows ). That is when you pressed the button it automatically opens the window completely. This gives the attacker room /space to extend his hand in and grab you by the neck. If you have such windows ( manual hand lever is more safer now ), start learning / practice how to control the window to open the gap
you required. Open enough to speak. Don't open too much Think about it - safety is more important
- lock all doors immediately after you get into the car
- if you have to stop for police inspection, always stop such that nothing is blocking your front - in case you need to escape by driving forward
- do not change your gear to PARK / FREE until you are sure it is really the polis
- If possible park in your yard by reversing in - this will give you a better view infront when you come out of the house

Friends if you have any other tips it is very much welcomed

We were told by the inspector that this ia a new trend of using polis uniforms and is very serious.

In Malaysia the whole car will disappear!

This message is not as correct as it claimed to be though it has noted that "THIS HAS BEEN CHECKED ON SNOPES". Snopes had actually reported that it is a mixture of true and false information. Read about it at the following link:

http://www.snopes.com/autos/techno/lockcode.asp

=======================================================================
From My InBox:

This was reported in the Channel 5 news in Singapore... ..
The device to 'steal' access code to your car is actually made in China.

This is a major problem all over China now. I have no idea it has come to Malaysia.

Car lock....A Must Read !

It is very troubling what lengths people will go to steal something!
Most of the time I lock my car on the door lock inside when I exit the car. Little did I know that that is the best way to lock your car, according to what a friend sent me on the internet. Read on......

THIS HAS BEEN CHECKED ON SNOPES;

I personally checked with the local police and they confirmed that this was happening.

While traveling, my friend stopped at the roadside reststop with bathrooms, vending machines, etc. He came out to his car less than 4-5 minutes later and found someone had gotten into his car, and stolen his cell phone, laptop computer, GPS navigator, briefcase... ..you name it.

He called the police and since there were no signs of his car being broken into- the police told him that there is a device that robbers are using now to clone your security code when you lock your doors on your car using your key-chain locking device (transmitter) .

They sit a distance away and watch for their next victim. Since they know you are going inside of the store, restaurant, or bathroom, it gives them a few minutes to steal and run.

The police officer said to be sure to manually lock your car door by hitting the lock button inside the car, that way if there is someone sitting in a parking lot watching for their next victim, it will not be you.

When you hit the lock button on your car upon exiting...it does not send the security code, but if you walk away and use the door lock on your key chain- it sends the code thru the airwaves where it can be stolen.

I just wanted to let you know about this...it is something totally new to us...and this is real...it just happened this past Thursday.

So be aware of this and please pass this note on...look how many times we all lock our doors with our keys (transmitters) ...just to be sure we remembered to lock them....and bingo the guys have our code...and whatever was in the car...can be gone.

IT HAPPENED AT "THE GARDEN" CARPARK

I did not verify if this is a true story but do take heed as it could possibly happen.

=================================================================
From My InBox:

Dear Friends,

I would like to share a life saving incident that all our loved ones
needs to be aware.

Last Saturday, 11th April 2009, my girlfriend and I were in Mid Valley
"The Gardens" for a movie. We finished around 8.40pm. I had parked my
car just right above the 'GSC Signature Cinema' on the 5th floor.. As
we were getting into our car, we realized that the parking fee had not
been paid. We decided to stop by the Auto pay station on the lower
parking level to do the payment.

We drove 2 floors down and couldn't't locate the Auto Pay Station. We
decided to park our car at 2nd floor wondering if there should be a
pay station in the mall at the lobby area. My girlfriend decided to
wait in the car as she was on the phone. was walking into the mall
looking for an Auto Pay Station, failing to find one, I decided to
walk 1 floor down. About minutes time, my girlfriend called me on my
mobile phone and she sounded terrified . She was shouting for help.
She told me that there is a guy who is trying to get into the car. The
guy was trying to get into the car very calmly, pretending getting
into his own car. He failed to open and refuses to continue trying as
he noticed that she was on the phone calling for help. Luckily, she
had locked the door just right after I got out earlier. I run up as
quickly as possible to reach her.

The moment I reached to the parking area, I saw the guy walking away
slowly from the car. He was walking towards the ramp heading to the
upper level. As I ran up the ramp, though I could still see him I
realized that I was running away from my car again. It could be
teamwork just to divert my presence from my car. I got back to my
girlfriend quickly to calm her down.

We made an official report to the Mid Valley security management to
investigate on the CCTV. It was a lesson learned for us to be more
careful in the parking zones. I'm happy that my girlfriend is still
here with me today. Please be watchful in parking zones.

Tips that we should be aware:

Never leave valuable items or your family members alone in the car at
parking location.

Road incident experienced by Jessica Teh

I don't know if this really happened, but if it had, I think the driver should have sounded her horn to alert others around her, which she did not. Do you think this is a true story?

===================================================================

From My InBox:

Subject: Fw: Road incident experienced by Jessica Teh

Hi Everyone,
Pastor Guy has asked me to share my stories about recent road incidents which I really apologized have taken so long due to my many demands in time as mom to a very very active, demanding, emotional, etc...2-year old toddler!

I have recently experienced a near attempted robbery while I was in the car (with Evan) and had friends who experienced the same few weeks later. During this very tough and difficult financial crisis, the cases of road robberies (or any kind of robbery) are getting rampant and we need to be watchful wherever we go (at any time of the day). We need to keep our families and loved ones in prayer at all times.

Few weeks ago while I was taking Evan back from my mom's place, I experienced an attempted robbery while I was still in my car with Evan! A screeching sound of a motorcyle behind initially had me wondering if an accident occurred. But to my shock, the second motorcyclist flew onto the window of my passenger seat and started using his helmet and another sharp object to break the glass. At first I was still wondering whether the guy had an accident and flew onto my window (cos I don't see ppl flying to your window everyday!!) Then after 2 attempts to whack the glass, I knew he was trying to shatter it. It happened really fast and I couldn't escape and drive away because I was sandwiched between cars at the traffic light (along 17/1 just before turning to Damansara Highway ). All I could do was pray...and after 4-5 times of very hard whacking he gave up. My glass didn't shatter because I had installed a security film that holds the glass together.... although there were tiny pieces of the side that had already landed on the passenger seat.

To my horror, as the traffic light had not turned green yet, the guy immediately targeted another car on the opposite side of the road, and I am very sure the guy didn't have time to see if there was any handbag or items in the car because within less than 10 seconds he started smashing her window as well. This was an old car with a woman in her 40-50s. He took her belongings. Obviously she was screaming and nobody could do anything as the traffic light turned green and everybody left.

I had to take a slow drive home as the glass to the side of the window was slowly crumbling, but am so thankful that the glass didn't completely shatter and Evan was not shaken by the incident. And I had locked all my doors! But I still had the image of the man's evil look in my mind over the next few days. I had never seen such an evil look upfront and upclose before!

2 weeks later, a close friend experienced the same thing. I had just shared with her my experience the week before and she was the only one who had installed security films to her windows as well. She was going to a shop in Old Klang Road with her sister. She came down from the car while her sister sat at the passenger seat to wait for her. (It is advisable for everyone to leave the car and not wait inside nowadays!) A man came to the passenger seat window (where her sister was) and started smashing the window with a sharp object. Obviously it took a while to shatter the glass due to the film, but because the car was parked and he had more time, he continued whacking until the whole glass piece shattered. This was at 3 p.m. in the afternoon. After screaming her lungs out, the guy fled without taking her bag but she was bleeding due to the glass falling on her and in trauma. Really thank God the glass didn't go into her eye (nearly did!).

There are actually more cases from my friends relatives..mostly at traffic lights. This incidents just proves to warn us over and over again to be wary of our surroundings. ...and esp ladies (cos we are the main targets!) to hide your bags or don't carry any bags if you can, to avoid trouble. Let's continue to pray for safety everywhere we are, at anytime of the day.

Police ID Card

From My InBox:

Below is the real policeman ID:

A REAL policeman ID card is light yellow in color with Logo & the word 'polis diraja malaysia' in front. At the back, there will be a passport size photo, name & matriks number.

Hope this thing wont happen again and wont happen to any of you as well ...

Ladies, be alert . It is happening in Penang !!!

I used to receive forwarded emails regarding incidents of being 'disturbed' by a fake policeman but I don't really believe that until i met one last saturday .
It was 8.30am when I was driving at Jln Ayer Itam. I noticed a motorbike following me closely. Of course I didnt suspect anything bcos that is the main road to town. However, at the Mobil petrol station, b4 SRJK Shang Wu, I turned left to Tmn Lumba Kuda & he followed.

This time he was riding the motorbike on my right & took out his handcuff and kept saying 'Saya polis'. I ignored him... Then at the tmn lumba kuda housing area he overtook my car & stopped his motorbike infront on me.
I stopped & waited till he got down from his bike then I drove off again. Unfortunately, we met again at the tuffclub traffic light. This time, he kept knocking at my window and asking me to co me out from my car. He also showed me a so called police ID card without photo or logo.

I'm very sure that he is not a genuine policeman. Even if he is a real one, and if I did break any traffic rules , he can just send me a summon without needing me to get down from my car. So, I decided go drive to police station. He followed me till a few hundreds metre b4 I turned to the police station.
He is a medium size Malay guy, abt 165-170cm height.Riding Modenas Kriss 100 , PGN 74 .

The oil on the Tyre Trick

This sounds possible.

================================================================

From My InBox:

This incident happened to me and be very careful if you ever encounter such case in future.

On Thur 5 Feb, I was driving home after work in the afternoon. quite a number of cars on the road. I was driving near the UE3, Taman Miharja, Cheras when 2 Indian guys on a motorbike honked me and pointed to the passenger-side wheel. I slowed down, not stopping bdut they kept honking and pointing to the wheel. Finally, I stopped at the side of the road in front of the UE3 complex. The 2 guys stopped and came down from their bike. One has the “BMW” name and logo on his blue shirt. While the other guy squatted in fron of the passenger-side wheel (I cant see him), the “BMW” guy came to the passenger side. My car is always locked when I drive and I lowered the passenger=side window about 2 inch to talk with him. Speaking in Malay, he told me my wheel has smoke and oil. I hesitated evaluating the situation, and he then bend down at the wheel and came up showing me his finger with some oil on it. He said my brake oil is leaking and cannot drive and ask me to go down out to see the wheel. Pointing to Taman Pertama which is just nearby, I told him I stay there and will go to my mechanic there for check-up. He kept insisting I dont drive as my brakes are not working and can get an accident. He kept asking me to go down and look at the wheel. I said no and I drove off. Giving this “Good Samaritan” the benefit of the doubt, I drove home very slowly in case I really cannot brake the car. 10 min later I arrived at my mechanic shop which is quite near to my house. I ask the mechanic if there is any oil in the wheel, he touched it and said yes and possible brake oil is leaking. He took it into the workshop and took out the wheel. Lo and behold, there was no leak, all dry. There was some oil at the brake pd and at the back of the tyre. He took out the driver-side tyre and it was dry too. He told me the only possible answer was that someone must have poured oil into my wheel. He washed the tyres and cleaned up the oil and then I went off.

I didnt tell the mechanic what had happened earlier but putting 2 and 2 together, I think I know what happened.

The 2 Indian guys stopped me. While one was talking with me, the other guy squatting at the wheel must have poured some oil into my wheel, making me think my car’s brake oil was leaking and in panic, I might go down and check (that’s why he kept asking me to go down and see). If I go out of the car to see, the following things can happen:-

1. one guy will drive off with my car (hoping in panic I’ll leave the car keys in the car) while the other will ride off in his motorbike.
2. they will threaten and rob me (with or without injury)
3. they will say they can repair my car very fast with no hassle and charge me a bomb

Looking at the crime situation in KL these days, I think either one of the first 2 possibilities will happen. Thank God, I was alert and didnt panic.

So for you drivers in KL, please be careful and be alert at all times while driving. Dont be so gullible and take all “Good Samaritan” word as true. If it happens drive to the nearest police station or mechanic workshop. The worst thing that can happen is to buy 2 brand new tyres (if tyres are kaput) or pay to repair for the damage done to the car. Cheaper than your life or your car..

So drive carefully. Cheers.

Women Drivers

Been there done that? I have.

From My InBox:

Drivers, have you been blacklisted?

Could you have received Traffic Summons Charges that you have not paid? Run an online check for JPJ and PDRM summonses issued to you that you may not be aware of.

JPJ also keep a blacklist of offenders / vehicles with summonses that have not been settled after a specified period. Find out if you are on that list by clicking on the icons for "PDRM" or "JPJ" and enter your identification card number and car registration number to do a search.

If any of the summonses against you are valid, you can make payment online. Note that you need only pay 50% of the fine, if you settle your summonses within 1 month of issuance.

I suggest that you subscribe for PDRM Summons Alert to have summonses emailed to you to take advantage of this offer. That way you will be alerted immediately if you have been summoned for offenses that you did not commit or in a vehicle you do not own.

===============================================================================
From My InBox:

U better check, I click on it and just found out someone with my same IC no, diff name ????

Now I have to go lodge a police report, just in case..

A True Incident That Happened TO ME Last Night

This happened to a lady on 16th Oct 2008 in PJ after a downpour at 7pm.

From My InBox:

I would like to share my experience with you on what actually happened last night while on my way back from the office alone.

It was raining heavily while I left the office about 7.00pm and I was caught in the traffic jam along the way home. On reaching Kampung Tunku, I noticed some bikes tailing me closely. My reaction was bikes riders will not be so gentle on the road, even on rainy days, they often speed. As I could not view clearly in the downpour, I activated my rear windshield wiper to have a better look.

I saw three bikes behind me. Following that, one rider moved in front of my car towards the left and two riders were behind me for a while. And I heard a very loud crashing sound at the rear of my car.

I did not stop to investigate but accelerated and continued my journey home despite whatever damages I have to incur for repairs. After a while, the three bikers went missing and guess what next. A breakdown tow truck was behind me next. Along the way, my drive was not comfortable as I felt that my car was not moving in the right way.

I continued my journey, whatever, and on reaching home, guess what, two tires, LH Front and Rear were punctured flat.

We always read and heard that such incidents are happening daily, and this time I experienced this myself.

Please inform all your wives and loves ones not to stop the car while driving alone, just carry on the journey.
